When: Fortnightly on Thursday afternoons 14:00-16:00
Venue: Members' Homes

We meet fortnightly on Thursday afternoons from 2-4pm in our own homes. We like to share our skills and patterns in both knitting and crochet and draw on each others' expertise when faced with more complex pattern instructions. We occasionally work together on local community projects but everyone is free to knit/crochet their own work.

We are a small group as being home based limits how many we can comfortably squeeze into our living rooms. We take it in turns to provide refreshments. Please contact us to see if we have any spaces. Please contact either Group Leader for more information.

Judy Thomas joined Woolpack about 4 years ago. We all remember her working on her crochet squares, 20 in all, each one depicting an interest and passion of her grandchildren from ballet to Darth Vader, from ice creams to ammonites, from sheep figures to handbags! We were intrigued to watch the growing number of squares and hear the stories behind them. She was very inventive and creative which is evident in her handiwork.  She often wore a hand support as she had painful arthritis in her fingers but it never stopped the creation of these little gems.

Sadly and quite suddenly she was diagnosed with a brain tumour which took her swiftly. However she had the foresight to ask if Woolpack members could finish the quilt for her. We decided we would like to do just that so we approached her husband Mike and family who helped decipher the images in the half finished squares and it was completed.

As we pieced them together it brought not only memories of Judy  but also  put a smile on our faces as well. We won’t forget her.
